Are you curious about the Canine Good Neighbour Test? Have you wondered if your dog has what it takes to be a Therapy Dog?
This is the class for you!
The Canine Good Neighbour Test, or CGN, is a test created by the Canadian Kennel Club and offered by certified evaluators. The test consists of 12 exercises that you can practice at home before trying out an official test. The steps are meant to be a survey sample of skills that a well-behaved, stable dog can complete in a public setting. The test is open to both purebred and mixed breed dogs. You can read more about the test and steps here: PDF of the steps and details of each exercise
If you are interested in having your dog tested and assessed as a therapy dog in any of the Vancouver Island organizations, working through the Canine Good Neighbour test is a great place to start. This group class will also include some variations on the CGN exercises that the instructors feel could be helpful for Therapy Dogs.
